Lightly, gently
The rain hits the pavement
The trees stretch their arms and gather
The cars go by one after another
The sky is darkened
Moody and cross
I wait for time to pass
I wait, kicking up my shoe
And I watch the people scurry home
The motel kids running in the street
The lady smokes a cigarette and watches, a puff and then another
I feel the chill air on my face
And I wait
Wait for time to pass..
